- Sniping is very common, hard to beat w/ out outbidding them which also isn't easy. If you can, get in touch w/ the seller and see if he has another.
- When someone bids on something they can also put a reserve bid. A reserve bid is a certain amount of money that Ebay will keep bidding for the person even if they get outbid. Once someone bids past the reserve bid it stops automatically outbidding you. So it's not snipers, snipers come in at the last second. They're easy to beat with an extra $1 reserve bid.
- I found sniping to be a waste of time, just bid the maximum you are willing to pay and if someone else wants it worse, too bad. If it's somethign you MUST win, then bid high enough to get it, ebay will automatically only bump your amount one bid (usually a dollar) over the previous high price. For instance, you are willing to pay up to $25.00 for a pair of Hanna Montana shoelaces so you bid $25.00. But the rest of the world only wants to pay up to $15.00, ebay will only make your bid be $16.00.. and that's what you get your shoelaces for.
